BSF rescued 36 pigeons of rare species from the clutches of smugglers on the Indo-Bangladesh Border

On March 08, 2022, under South Bengal Frontier troops of BSF rescued 36 pigeons from the clutches of smugglers, thwarting the smuggling of wildlife along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Smugglers were trying to bring all these pigeons from Bangladesh to India by smuggling them from the area of ​​​​the Border Out Post Tarali, North 24 Parganas district.

On 08 March 2022, the troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 battalion, Sector Kolkata were on routine duty along the International Boundary. At around 1610 hrs, BSF troops observed the movement of 02 suspicious persons who were trying to enter in Indian territory from Bangladesh side carrying some bags with them. When the BSF troops on duty challenged him. Both the smugglers threw the bag and fled back to Bangladesh taking advantage of the dark and built up area. When the BSF party conducted a thorough search of the area, 06 nylon bags were recovered from a nearby field, from inside which 36 pigeons of different colors were rescued.

All these birds (pigeons) that have been rescued from the clutches of smugglers have been handed over to the Customs Office, Tentulia for further legal proceedings.

Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the 112th battalion troops, in which they thwarted smuggling and rescued 36 pigeons of rare species from the clutches of smugglers. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by the jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his troops.
