The leaders continued the discussion on Russia’s special military operation to defend the Donbass republics as well as humanitarian issues, including measures to evacuate civilians.
The President of Russia emphasised the fact that in their public assessments of the developments, the European Union leaders ignored yesterday’s criminal and inhumane act by the Ukrainian military – a missile strike at a residential area in the centre of Donetsk using a cluster munition which brought about multiple casualties among the civilian population.
Vladimir Putin laid out his principled assessments of the ongoing talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives on an agreement that would take into account Russia’s earlier demands. He stressed that Kiev is not showing a serious commitment to finding mutually acceptable solutions.
