Tabla Legend Pandit Bikarm Ghosh is a legend in his own rights, but he is a master designer of the music festivals for sure. Day 1 of the Event saw the next generation playing with the Pandits at ease. The City of Joy today socked into the rich aroma of dance and Sarod Tabla Jugalbandi.
The evening started with Vidhushi Rama Vaidyanathan’s performance of Bharat Natyam. Nine distinct Rasha of Indian performing Art is at ease with her masters like expression and movements. Classical dance and all copybook representation with picture-perfect accompanied singers made it a divine performance to watch.
When she started the Vitthal part of her presentation, the entire divinity may have come down from the Birla Temple just above the auditorium to see the heavenly performance. Any dance festival can not be complete without Bharat Natyam and exactly that aura of the south flown through the city of joy’s veins this evening.
The evening was young and just unfolding her Saturday night ventures at near-by Park Street as usual, but the elite of the Kolkata with a deep love for music all were waiting at the auditorium to listen to two of the legend of our time. Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, who is a direct dispel of Swaar Samrat Ali Akbar Khan Saheb with his Sarod and Pandit Tanmoy Bose with his magical pair of hands on Tabla.
Raag Hemant the music flowed through the consciousness of the audience followed by Raag Medhabi, a Raag created by Swaar Samrat Ali Akbar Khan Saheb as a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his 100th birthday. At last, he played Raag Kafi. This composition is a hori, which is sung around the time of Holi, the festival of colors. This particular hori describes Krishna and his true lover, Radha Rani.
When two legends talks, in their own musical language, the result is something heaven on earth. Both the legend have earned the title Pandit and that through their hard work, dedication, and submission. If anyone had little doubt or maybe listening to them for the first time will definitely be booked the next concert for sure in advance. Pandit Tanmoy Bose is truly a magic pair of hands-on Tabla. Pandit Tehendra Narayan Majumdar just made everybody standstill yet resonating in the seventh heaven of music.
Day 3 will be the final day of this edition for City of Joy, but the very first edition has created the promise to show the mighty cultural heritage of the city.
Pandit Bikram Ghosh will be the finisher of the winning event with his magical pair of hands, along with many more talented artists. But one name must be taken at last to make it a complete tribute to Pandit Shankar Ghosh, is Jaya Sil who is working like a powerhouse behind the screen, a true partner for the life of Pandit Bikram Ghosh, also his mother with her blessings.
