BSF RESCUED CATTLE FROM THE CLUTCHES OF SMUGGLERS, 02 SMUGGLERS ALSO ARRESTED

On 13 April, 2022, the troops of Border Out Post Pustighata of 68 Battalion BSF saw 10 to 12 people coming towards International Boundary with cattle at around 0210 hrs. When the jawan tried to stop them, the smugglers started abusing and started moving towards the jawan with sharp weapons. BSF Jawan fired with non-lethal weapons to stop them. Hearing the sound of fire, the rest of the smugglers fled from the spot but two smugglers were apprehended by the BSF along with six cattle.
Apprehended smugglers have been identified as Akram Runner, age 24 years, S/o Safirul Runner and Suraj Mandal, age 19 years, S/o Mahajal Mandal, a resident of Dattapulia, Dakhinpada village in Nadia district of West Bengal. On enquiry, it was found that both are involved in smuggling activities and work under the orders of Sabuddin Mandal of village Kanibavani, Dattapulia who is the main cattle smuggler. They further revealed that today Jogas, Sonai, Tapan Das were with him but after hearing the sound of fire they ran away. At the same time, he further revealed that Johar Mandal of Raipur village from Bangladesh was about to come to take these cattle near to International Boundary.
Apprehended smugglers were handed over to the Police Station Baghdah for further legal action.
Yoginder Agrawal, Commanding Officer of 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to stop smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to which some people are being apprehended and punished as per the law. Further the officer stated in strong words that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
