Bagher Din–the day of the Tiger

Man’s curiosity centering on the tiger is timeless! This largest cat is not only the most majestic one, but also has been endangered to a point of extinction. It is estimated that, while the count of tigers on the Indian subcontinent might have been less; it was around 50 thousand, a century ago. With only about 4000 remaining and the lion’s share of the lot residing in India, awareness creation and conservation efforts have started yielding results. In order to generate awareness of the significance of tiger conservation 29th July is being observed as ‘World Tiger Day’, from 2010 and onwards. A plethora of writers has written about this phenomenal creature. Elaborating on such topics, an interesting documentary titled “Bagher Din – the day of the tiger” has been conceptualised by the elocutionist Korak Basu that has been penned by noted poet Tanmoy Chakraborty. The visuals include a collection of stamps and the first day covers of Jadavpur University student Srijon De Sarkar featuring the majestic animal with excerpts of experiences of wild encounters of Jim Corbett and others. “Bagher Din–the day of the tiger” aims to focus on awareness efforts across the globe on World Tiger Day. The documentary, presented by Khukumoni Alta, will be released on the Facebook page of ‘Korak Basu Creations’ on 28th July 2022 at 7 pm.

“I am a keen lover of wildlife and have been enthralled by this wonderful animal forever. There is always a need to protect the gems of nature and documentaries like this will help to raise awareness of the tiger and its conservation. Korak Basu Creations has always tried to curate interesting and thoughtful content and will continue to do so. I thank Khukumoni Alta and Aritra Roychowdhury for supporting me in this initiative. A special thank goes out to noted poet Tanmoy Chakraborty and all others associated with this project ” said Korak Basu, elocutionist and the brain behind the entire project. Aritra Roychowdhury, Director Khukumoni Sindoor-Alta says, ” We love to associate with such noble initiatives which deal with an awareness campaign. Making a profit out of our business is not the only focus of our company. We love to concentrate on social as well as environmental issues. We do believe we must pay back to society something meaningful where we do connect. This film we found deals with a noble cause and is told in a very interesting manner.”
