KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS
One of the most glorified events and wins over Pakistan for our defense capabilities in recent times was the Kargil War and who can forget our Heros forever.
A wreath laying was conducted at Vijay Smarak, Fort William on 26 July to pay homage to the fallen braves during Kargil War. Lt Gen RP Kalita, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command laid the wreath, followed by other senior officers.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on 26th July to commemorate India’s victory on Pakistan in the Kargil War in 1999. All the Pakistani Infiltrators were expelled from our soil and the war officially come to end on this day. The war was fought in extremely high altitude and rugged mountains under adverse weather conditions. On this day brave hearts are remembered who laid down their life fighting till their last breath. The victory is an apt testament to the Nation’s Will Power & Resolve.
