GRSE inaugurates Job-oriented Skill Development Programmes for Youth at Ramakrishna Math Kolkata

In its commitment to CSR activities, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd., (GRSE), one of the leading Public Sector Undertaking and Mini-Ratna Category 1 Shipyard inaugurated Skill Development Programs for youth including Phlebotomy Technician & General Duty Assistant Training Batches at Ramakrishna Math, Baghbazar.
The new batch was inaugurated by Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), Chairman & Managing Director, GRSE in the presence of Swami Krishnanathananda of Ramakrishna Math, Senior Officials of GRSE & Ramakrishna Math.
GRSE signed a MoU with Ramakrishna Math, Belur on 21 Jul 2022 to provide vocational training programs at “Ma Sarada Swanirvar Kendra (MSSK)”, a unit of Ramakrishna Math (RKM), Baghbazar.
Under this initiative, GRSE plans to reinforce its commitment to continue being an active participant in improving the quality of life for the society at large in the state of West Bengal.
On the occasion, Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), CMD, GRSE said, ‘GRSE has a long association with Ramakrishna Math and we are proud to be executing some of these noble projects. I am confident that in the coming years, our association will only grow from strength to strength.
This significant CSR initiative aims to provide Job-oriented Skill Development Programmes to unemployed youth from underprivileged societies. This six-month training program will also serve in helping the unemployed company to develop and update their skill towards securing a better livelihood.

The journey of Garden Reach Shipbuilders &; Engineers Ltd., a premier Warship building company in India, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, a PCMM Level-2 Certified Company, dates back to 1884. The Company was taken over by the Government of India in 1960. The first shipyard of independent India to build a Seaward Defence Boat (SDB), INS Ajay, for the Indian Navy in 1961, GRSE also built the first ever Indian Export Warship “CGS Barracuda”. Noteworthy accolades include the Defence Minister’s Award for Excellence for In-house Design Effort for Offshore Patrol Vessel for the Government of Mauritius, CGS Barracuda, and Best Performing Defence Shipyard of India for Four Years in a row. GRSE embarked on a modernization drive over the last decade, resulting in the capacity for concurrent construction of 20 ships at a time. A team of highly skilled design engineers and state of art VR Lab & latest software cater to the in-house design capabilities.
