Amendment on granting Russian citizenship to foreign nationals who entered into a contract on serving in the Russian Armed Forces introduced to legislation

In particular, the Federal Law introduces an amendment to Federal Law On the Citizenship of the Russian Federation which establishes that foreign nationals who entered into a contract on serving in the Russian Armed Forces, other forces, or military units for a term of no less than one year, will have the right to apply for the citizenship of the Russian Federation without fulfilling with terms established by Federal Law On the Citizenship of the Russian Federation, and without requiring a permanent residence permit.
A corresponding amendment was introduced to Federal Law On Military Duty and Military Service, pursuant to which the term of the contract on military service concluded with a foreign national is reduced from five years to one year.
