London, 24 October 2022.
Rishi Sunak has won the race to be the next leader of the Conservative Party after yet another candidate dropped out of the race.
Sunak will be the first British Asian to become prime minister and the first nonwhite to take the top job. At 42, he will also be the youngest prime minister in over 200 years.
Having only been elected as a member of Parliament in 2015, after a career in banking and hedge funds, Sunak’s political rise to become finance minister by 2020 was meteoric. In that role, he took unprecedented action to support Britain’s economy during the pandemic, with months-long programs to replace workers’ wages and incentivize consumer spending.
Sunak inherits a nightmarish soup of political and economic gloom, a divided party and 12 years of rule with lots of anti-incumbency will make it an equally bumpy road ahead like his predecessors. The opposition parties at Westminster will step up their calls for an imminent general election.
But if he becomes PM finally, we will have two Indian origins at the helm of affairs in two big economies. Will PM Modi be able to bring back full freedom of India instead of dominion status for India, well time will say.
Dr. Palash Bandopadhyay, Editor of IBG NEWS, said, “We at IBG NEWS expect this to happen soon. In fact, 4 days back editorial meeting at the office exactly listen this from our Chief Editor Suman Munshi with conviction. Sometimes your political predictions changes the history of the world and this time it set the path for an Indian-origin person to become UK PM.”
