IIM Jammu observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with patriotic fervour
31st Oct 2022 Jammu: IIM Jammu organized “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st Oct 2022 at its both transit campuses Canal Road and Jallochak. The event was initiated with a floral ceremonial tribute by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu at Canal Road Campus, and Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu at Jallochak Campus.
The Faculty, Staff members, and students actively took the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” and “Integrity” pledge on the solemn occasion, in which they pledged to dedicate themselves to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and strive hard to spread this message among fellow countrymen in the spirit of unification of the country, which was made possible by the vision and actions of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu addressed the audience at canal road campus where he emphasized the actions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the monumental importance, and the grueling groundwork of the efforts put in by The Iron Man. He said that the Iron Man of India was instrumental in uniting all the 550 princely States. He stressed the fact that all of us must dedicate ourselves to maintaining integrity and security for the unity of the nation and it should be done to spread the message among all the citizens.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu in his address at Jallochak campus mentioned that Sardar Vallabhai Patel is especially remembered for his invaluable service to the postcolonial nation, through his relentless pursuit of the princely states. On the eve of the National Unity Day, he urged everyone to come together and thank Sardar Patelji for all the work he did in integrating India and urged everyone to work hand in hand for keeping the country together.
In the morning hours, the students of IIM Jammu participated in the unity run organized at IIT Jammu. The patriotic songs depicting national unity and integrity were recited by students of IIM Jammu during the occasion. Also, a digital exhibition depicting the life of Sardar Vallabhai Patel was organized at the Institute. The event culminated with the recital of the national anthem.
