JAPANESE PROSTHETIC-LEG MANUFACTURER INSTALIMB PARTNERS WITH GLOBALLY RENOWNED NGO JAIPUR FOOT

As part of this tie-up, the world’s first 3D-designed prosthetic-leg maker will supply the 3D-printed sockets while the Jaipur Foot Organization will fit the limbs to their pool of patients

Instalimb, the world’s first 3D-printed prosthetic-legs manufacturer based in Japan, has partnered with the renowned NGO Jaipur Foot. Instalimb uses never-before-seen 3D printing and machine learning (AI) technology to create affordable and high-quality 3D-printed prosthetics & orthotics across the world.

As part of this collaboration, Instalimb will supply its 3D-printed sockets to the Jaipur Foot Organization, which the latter will fit their patients. The joint project will be funded by the Japanese Government.

“We, at Instalimb, are committed to offering enhanced services and providing access to the best-in-class technology in the prosthesis. Jaipur Foot Organization has been selflessly doing excellent work catering to the needs of amputees in India. We are looking forward to working together with them and to combining our strengths to transform the lives of amputees across the world,” said Yutaka Tokushims, CEO, Instalimb.

Jaipur Foot is part of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), the world’s largest organisation rehabilitating over 1.78 million disabled, providing artificial limbs, calipers, and other aids and appliances totally free of cost to patients.

“We receive enquiries for Jaipur limbs from amputees across the world. However, our challenge was that using the current technology, we cannot help a patient unless he/she comes to our centre. This is logistically not possible for amputees living in distant places or other countries. Through our partnership with Instalimb, we are looking at the feasibility of remote prosthetic fabrication with the ultimate goal of making prostheses accessible to all,” said Dr. Pooja Mukul MD, Technical Director, Jaipur Foot Organization BMVSS.

Instalimb recently announced it has raised 445 million yen (₹ 26 crores) in Series A funding in Japan (including investment, loans, and grants) to foray into the Indian market. The company launched its technologically advanced prosthetic wear solutions in Gurgaon in July.

Accelerated by its robust funding and investment, Instalimb is currently working to install its 3D technologies in other prosthetic clinics, both NGOs and private companies.
