FAFAI to Celebrate Silver Jubilee with First Kolkata Convention
28th November, Kolkata: The Fragrances and Flavours Association of India (FAFAI) organized a Curtain Raiser at ITC Sonar Bangla to mark their upcoming Silver Jubilee Edition Convention & Expo. This was marked by a reveal of their special 25th edition logo for the symposium. The event was followed by a High Tea that allowed members to meet, interact and exchange ideas.
“The entire fragrance and flavour trade is perhaps a niche industry but is a very critical industry. This industry really adds value to any product that it touches. We hope that with this event we will be able to add value and showcase the immense potential and strength that West Bengal has.” said Rishabh C. Kothari, President of FAFAI.
The FAFAI biennial Convention & Expo will be held for the first time in Kolkata at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan between the 23rd and 25th of February 2023, and will be supported by the Government of West Bengal.
Chief Guest Dr. Shashi Panja in her address said, “We really can’t do without fragrances and flavors. It is so very ingrained in our society and in our history. The State is very happy to host FAFAI. It needs a minuscule amount of fragrance to give value to a product, but I think that itself is a game changer. I think we will see a wonderful Convention and Expo next year.”
The event was also graced by Zha Liyou, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China, and Daniel Sim, Deputy Australian Consulate-General.
FAFAI is the nation’s apex body in the field of Fragrances, Flavours, Aroma chemicals, Natural Oils and their ancillaries. Started by a group of connoisseurs in 1949, their goal has been to create a sense of unity amongst the traders and dealers in the industry. This has allowed the Fragrances and Flavours Association of India to grow into a national association with close to 900 current members.
Their upcoming Convention & Expo is expected to attract more than 2000 national & international delegates. It is focused on creating business opportunities leading to the industry’s growth in India, while also helping to establish a strong foothold in foreign markets.
