BSF JAWANS APPREHENDED 03 BANGLADESHI SMUGGLERS SMUGGLING HOUSEHOLD ITEMS WORTH MORE THAN 3 LAKHS
On 04th January, 2023, troops of ICP Petrapole, 145 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier observed 03 Bangladeshi persons with 04 suspicious bags at ICP Petrapole. When the troops on duty asked them about such heavy bags, they could not give any satisfactory replies. After this, the jawans brought them to the ICP for further questioning. They were identified as Md. Farooq, Md. Ibrahim Sujain and Md. Mehdi Hassan, Bangladesh.
During interrogation Md. Farooq revealed that he smuggles clothes from India to Bangladesh, today he took these items from a person named Miraj in New Market, Kolkata. He was to get 12,000 Bangladeshi taka after the successful completion of the task. Apart from this, Ibrahim Sujain and Md. Mehdi Hasan revealed that they also smuggle clothes and grocery items. The goods were given to him by Maneer, manager of Haseen Guest House, Kolkata and were to be further handed over to a person named Alamin in Bangladesh. He was supposed to get 3,000 BD Taka for this work but BSF jawans had already apprehended him. The estimated value of seized mobiles, clothing and cosmetic items from the smugglers is 3,00,189/- rupees.
The apprehended smugglers and the seized items were handed over to the Custom Office Petrapole for further legal action.
The spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the success of the jawans. He stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the BSF troops on duty. He has urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He further stated in strong words that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to happen on the Border under any circumstances. He also stated that our intelligence department is tracing more people indulged in this type of smuggling.
