TO FREE THE NOTORIOUS SMUGGLER, MISCREANTS ATTACKS ON THE JAWANS, A MAHILA PRAHARI AND THREE JAWANS SERIOUSLY INJURED

On the basis of reliable information, jawans of Border Out Post Mamabhagina, 68 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, apprehended a notorious smuggler of the particular area in a search operation and seized a total of 43 kilograms of Ganja and 371 bottles of Phensedyl from his house.

The incident took place at village Nawadapada under Bagdah police station. On 06th January, 2023, troops of BSF received information from reliable sources that at the house of Alamgir Mandal, Sukhdev Mandal, Sukumar and Pavitra in the village has a huge quantity of Ganja and Phensedyl and smugglers are going to smuggle it to Bangladesh. As soon as the information was received, the company commander informed the matter to the police station of Baghdah. Thereafter, at 2010 hours, the jawans raided the said suspected houses in the presence of the village members. During the search, Alamgir Mandal was apprehended from his house with 43 kilograms of Ganja and 371 bottles of Phensedyl. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Alamgir Mandal, father’s name Samser Mandal, village Navadapada, District North 24 Parganas.

While taking the smuggler, the miscreants attacked on the jawans .

When the BSF jawans were taking Alamgir Mandal to the Border Out Post, his accomplices suddenly attacked on the jawans with sticks and stones, in which four BSF troops were seriously injured. But the brave troops of BSF fought strongly against the smugglers and didn’t leave the smuggler Alamgir. Eventually, the jawans used non-lethal weapons (PAG) in self-defense. After this the miscreants ran away from there. Soon after, the jawans brought the apprehended smuggler along with the seized goods to the Border Out Post Mamabhagina for further questioning.

The Incident lasted till late night, miscreants vandalized BSF property
Alamgir’s accomplices Sahdev Rai, Kalokman Dafadar, Total Mandal, Laltu Mandal, Razak Mandal, Hussain Mandal, Zahidul Dafadar, Jahan Ali Mandal and Mijanur Mandal first attacked on the BSF jawans, then CCTV cameras, recorders, heavy damage to BSF property by vandalizing computers and control rooms. On the protest of the smugglers, the additional contingent of BSF and the Baghdad police reached at the spot and chased the miscreants from there and evacuated the injured jawans from the spot and sent them to the Baghdad hospital. Where the condition of one of the injured jawans was serious, he was referred to Kolkata.

The miscreants also tried to siege to the Border Out Post
After dispersing the crowd from the spot, the agitated crowd also tried to siege the Mamabhagina Border Out Post to get the smuggler freed, but the BSF jawans foiled their attempt as well.

The smuggler is most wanted in the list of NCB, had been smuggling for the last six years.
During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he had been indulging in this type of smuggling for the last 6 years. The smuggler is notorious in the NCB list but he was never apprehended red-handed before. The apprehended smuggler and the seized articles are being handed over to NCB, Kolkata. In addition to this, an FIR has been lodged in Police Station, Bagdah against the miscreants and smugglers who attacked on BSF jawans and damaged government property.

Those who supported the notorious smuggler, they will be apprehending very soon- DIG
Shri Sanjay Kumar, DIG Sector HQrs, Krishnanagar stated that BSF jawans always perform their duty with vigilance on the Border and are also being successful in preventing crimes across the Border. He further stated that the smugglers and their family members are shocked by the continuous action taken by the BSF. They attack on the jawans with a sense of revenge but the morale of our jawans is always high. He further stated that our intelligence team is trying to find out the accomplices of the smuggler and they will be apprehended soon. At the same time, he also stated in strong words that BSF will not allow smuggling on the Border under any circumstances.
