TRISHAKTI CORPS CONDUCTS NUMBER OF EVENTS IN SIKKIM AND NORTH BENGAL AS PART OF REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

  1. On the occasion of 74th Republic Day, Indian Army Trishakti Corps organised a number of events in North Bengal and Siliguri. During the run up to 26 Jan, a number of events were conducted to include equipment display at Siliguri on 20 Jan, a military Band Display at MG Road, Gangtok on 24 Jan, equipment display at Binnaguri and Sevoke Road on 25 Jan and flagging off a cycling expedition from Natula to Gangtok on 25 Jan.
  2. On 26 Jan, Pipe Band & Military Equipment display was organised at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. The display was dovetailed with Republic Day function organised by the local administration and aimed to increase the awareness and deepen the sense of patriotism amongst the local youth. An Army Recruitment Awareness Counter was also established to enlighten the young minds about pursuing the career in armed forces. The Military band created patriotic fervour by playing various Martial tunes. The event was also marked with Flagging in the joint cycling expedition from Nathula to Gangtok. The expedition team comprised of members from Indian Army, Police, SSB, ITBP, NCC & Civil administration.
  3. The display saw large turnout of local citizens, especially the youth as they interacted with the Army personnel. The display aptly showcased the new generation equipment and modern weapons in the inventory of Indian Army and readiness to address any challenge on the borders.
  4. The Chief Guest of the event was Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad Chaurasia. The event was attended by various other dignitaries from State government and Military. The Governor expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the untiring efforts of the Trishakti Corps in successful conduct of the event and towards overall wellbeing and safety of Sikkim.
