Odisha Health Minister Navkishore Das was seriously injured in a firing by a policeman near Gandhi Chowk at Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Sunday afternoon. Allegedly, an assistant sub-inspector of Odisha shot at him. Health Minister Navkishore was shot twice in a row in the chest. After being shot, the minister was admitted to a nearby private hospital with serious injuries.
Navkishore was taken to Jharsuguda airport almost immediately. From there he was airlifted and admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. A statement from the hospital said on Sunday evening, “The minister was given urgent treatment.” In addition to surgery on his wounds, he was also given emergency ICU services. But none of the efforts worked in the end.”
According to hospital sources, the minister’s heart was injured when he was shot in the chest. Due to which the bleeding starts inside the heart. However, despite that, the hospital’s team of doctors arranged to keep the heart moving artificially. But as the health minister’s injuries were serious, he could not be saved in the end. By afternoon his condition began to deteriorate rapidly. According to hospital sources, Odisha Health Minister Navkishore died in the evening.
This incident happened around 1 pm on Sunday. Odisha’s health minister was on his way to attend a function at that time. He was shot by an Assistant Police Sub-Inspector, his name is Gopal Das. Local people caught him. Later, the police arrested Gopal. But it is still unclear why he attacked.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over Navkishore’s death on Sunday. He said, “The death of Navkishore has caused a great loss to the Odisha administration. He was an asset not only to the government but also to his party. He took many steps for the health department in public welfare. The people of the state benefited from it.
At the same time, the Chief Minister of Odisha has also ordered the crime branch of the state to investigate the death of the teenager.
