GENERAL MANAGER/EASTERN RAILWAY HELD PRESS CONFERENCE FOR RUNNING OF BHARAT GAURAV SPECIAL TOURIST TRAIN FROM KOLKATA

Kolkata, March 30, 2023 :

Shri Arun Arora, General Manager/Eastern Railway held a press conference today regarding running of Bharat Gaurav Special Tourist Train in Eastern Region by IRCTC. In the press meet, Shri Arora, General Manager/Eastern Railway informed that Bharat Gaurav Special Tourist Train will be run by IRCTC from West Bengal and the train will originate from Kolkata on 20th May, 2023. Bharat Gaurav is the first such tourism special train for the travel enthusiasts and it is in line with the Government of India’s initiative “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” & “Dekho Apna Desh”. This Tourist Special Bharat Gaurav Train will cover 05 Jyotirlinga’s – Omakareshar, Mahakaleshwar, Somnath, Nageswar & Trimbakeshwar along with Statue of Unity, Shirdi Sai Baba and Shani Shingnapur. The train will commence the spiritual journey from Kolkata Station and will continue the pilgrim experience for 11 nights and 12 days. Several stations viz Bandel Jn, Barddhaman, Bolpur Shantiniketan, Rampurhat, Pakur, Sahibganj Jn, Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur Jn, Kiul, Barauni, Samastipur Jn, Muzaffarpur Jn, Hajipur Jn, Patliputra, Ara, Buxar, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jn, Prayagraj Chheoki have been identified for passenger boarding and deboarding. Shri Zafar Azam, Group General Manager/IRCTC/Eastern Zone, Shri Soumitra Majumdar, Principal Chief Commercial Manager/Eastern Railway and Shri Prabhas Dansana, Principal Chief Operations Manager/Eastern Railway were also present in the press meet.

The package has been classified into Three (03) categories – Economy (SL class) with 315 seats, Standard (3 AC) with 297 seats and Comfort (2 AC) with 44 seats. Economy Class includes accommodation/ wash and change in Non AC budget hotels, whereas, Standard and Comfort category involves accommodation/ wash and change in AC hotels. The transportation shall be by Non-AC buses for both Economy and Standard Class and AC buses will be applicable only for Comfort Class. Standard vegetarian menu shall be followed for all the classes during the entire journey. Apart from these services, the train will have professional tour Escorts, Housekeeping Staff, Unarmed Security, Surveillance Camera, PA system and travel insurance. All these services will be provided at affordable cost of Rs. 20,060/- per person (Economy), Rs. 31,800/- per person (Standard), Rs. 41,600/- per person (Comfort).

Indian Railways is providing approximately 33% concession for promotion of Rail Tourism under Bharat Gaurav Train Scheme. The above price is inclusive of the concession. Those booking the package online directly through IRCTC Website will also have the facility of EMI through Paytm, Razor Pay (Credit facility of 3-18 months through Debit Cards & 3-24 months through Credit Cards) and Bajaj Finance (Credit facility of 3 months & 5 months only).

It may be noted that, the first Bharat Gaurav was operated by IRCTC from Delhi on 21.06.2022 with total 500 passengers, who had set their journey through Ramayana Circuit, crossing international border uptill Janakpur in Nepal, for the very first time.

Besides these Hindu pilgrim spots, IRCTC will survey sites and use this rake for Sufi, Buddhists and other religious sections. In addition to this, for non-religious tourist spots will also be considered for package tour with this rake like Kerala or Goa or North East Region etc.
