Ghosh ENT Foundation has come up with Eastern India’s first ENT Super-specialty Centre with world-class infrastructure and state-of-the-art service, in the esteemed presence of Shri Sujit Bose, Honourable Minister of Govt of West Bengal; Smt Krishna Chakraborty, Honourable Mayor BMC; Shri Banibrata Banerjee, Mayor in Council (Ward No 33); Smt Tulsi Sinha Ray, Mayor in Council (Ward No 40); along with Dr. Tushar Kanti Ghosh and Dr. Arundhati Ghosh.

Present on the occasion, Dr Tushar Kanti Ghosh, the city’s noted ENT surgeon & founder of Ghosh ENT Foundation said, “The journey has been exhilarating so far… In recent times Adenoidectomy – the surgical removal of the adenoids (tissues located behind the nose and above the throat, that become inflamed) has become very common for children in the past few months. Earlier as well due to viral infections and allergies, children are prone to repeated cough and cold issues leading to enlarged adenoids but, it was undiagnosed then. Now, with the advancement of medical science, it is easier to diagnose and also treat properly by adaptation of modern technologies like COBLATION in surgeries like Adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, and others. Moreover, Otitis media with effusion (OME) affects approximately 80% of children due to the middle ear being flooded with fluids, though with no microbial infection manifestations. Multiple issues can drive recurring pediatric OME, such as environment-based issues, previous medical issues, inherited vulnerability from family, contact time at childcare institutes, passive smoking, and more than three siblings together with atopy or allergic rhinitis. If OME is not promptly addressed, this could eventually result in hearing impairment or loss, with consequent negative repercussions on the child’s communicative and behavioral patterns”.
Thyroid swelling is one of the most common endocrine disorders and the maximum number of patients in the present study was found in an age group of 31–40 years (34%). There was female predominance with female to male ratio of 7.3:1. Most of the patients belonged to rural backgrounds i.e., 42 (84%) patients. Most of the patients present with Left-sided neck swelling i.e., 18 (36%) patients. Ultrasound revealed that non neoplastic lesions were present in 44 (88%) patients and 6 (12%) patients had neoplastic lesions. FNAC showed that non neoplastic lesions were present in 38 (76%) patients and 12 (24%) patients had neoplastic lesions. Colloid goiter was the most common among the non-neoplastic lesions in 29 (58%) patients. Apart from these, Papillary carcinoma is the most common malignant disease in (8%) patients. Now with the involvement of advanced technologies in medical science, all these health issues can be diagnosed and treated properly.
