METRO COMMUTERS WELCOME 24 DAILY SERVICES ON JOKA – TARATALA STRETCH

Kolkata, 1st May, 2023 :

Metro Railway has introduced 24 daily services on Joka – Taratala stretch of Purple Line from today i.e. 01.05.2023 (Monday). The first service in the UP direction left Joka station sharply at 8:55 hrs. on May Day morning. This rake after reaching Taratala worked as the first Metro in the DN direction and left the station at 09:20 hrs. Welcoming this move, Metro commuters, specially students, their parents, teachers and office goers have expressed their satisfaction as Metro now will be available on this stretch during morning peak hours at 40 minutes interval. It will ease their commuting and also help them to reach their destinations smoothly avoiding the traffic on busy Diamond Harbour Road. They have also thanked Metro Railway authorities for withdrawing the three hours service break on both UP and DN directions during noon hours.

It is to be noted that after monitoring the footfall pattern and conducting a detailed passenger survey, Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager of Metro Railway has taken the decision to double the number of daily services on this stretch of Purple Line of Kolkata Metro. The morning service hours have also been extended by around one hour. Metro officials will continue to monitor the footfall and passenger pattern in the coming days too and necessary action will be taken in future based on this.
