Trial runs between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade stations of East-West Metro (Green Line) have been going on.

Here is a glimpse of that trial run conducted today where the rake is seen passing under the River Hooghly.

Once commissioned, Metro will take approx 45 secs. to cover this 520-meter stretch under the river.

This is the first time any rail under the river working and definitely a feather in the cap of Kolkata Metro management and Indian Railways.
