KUKI-MEITEI SOLIDARITY MEET IN MANIPUR LEADS TO VITAL MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR VILLAGERS

Kohima, Nagaland

Sunday, 21 May 2023

The Kuki-Meitei solidarity meet steered by Assam Rifles, held in Kwatha on 15 May 2023, paved the way for crucial medical assistance to the villagers. The event fostered a robust interaction between the community members and key stakeholders, focusing on understanding the needs of the villagers.

During the meeting, representatives from Assam Rifles engaged with the villagers, accompanied by discussions with the Village Chief. It was discovered that the village, housing 320 individuals, faced numerous health challenges, including diabetes, blood pressure, and other ailments. However, due to ongoing clashes and curfew restrictions, accessing medical support had become an obstacle for the villagers.

Following the interaction, the Assam Rifles medical officers promptly organised a medical camp within the village. A comprehensive assessment was conducted, resulting in the procurement and distribution of a month’s worth of essential medications to address the villagers’ specific ailments.

The villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their unwavering support, as they received the much-needed medicines. This joint effort between the Kuki-Meitei community and the Assam Rifles exemplifies the power of solidarity in addressing critical needs.
