BEACH CLEANING BY INDIAN COAST GUARD AT WEST BENGAL AND ODISHA

1.      A beach cleaning drive was organized by Indian Coast Guard on 21 May 23, which aimed at promoting “Jan Bhagidari” and public awareness for the prevention of Marine Pollution and the adoption of sustainable lifestyles for healthy oceans at selected beaches in the states of West Bengal and Odisha.

2.      Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters at Haldia and Paradip in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), State and District administration of the two Coastal States of West Bengal and Odisha, organized a beach cleaning drive at Digha, Sonapur, and Chakratirtha.  All Plastic bottles, bags and other wastes which were found in these beaches were collected.

3.      Indian Coast Guard has been regularly coordinating and conducting coastal cleanup activities towards “Swach Bharat Abhiyan”. Senior Officers and personnel from local administration and various departments of state and central government along with local populace participated enthusiastically in the event.
