Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants in the final stage of the open White Rook – 2023 All-Russian Chess Competitions among teams from general education institutions.

Today, it develops successfully and makes its significant contribution to popularising the game of chess. It also serves as a space for self-fulfilment, honest rivalry, and friendly contacts.

The strongest school teams from many Russian regions have assembled in Sochi. I know that you worked hard and withstood strong competition in the qualifying rounds. Now you are ready for the final trials.

I am confident that the tournament participants will reveal their extraordinary potential to the full, demonstrate in practice their daring creativity, their skill in calculating and developing complex and unconventional compositions, and that they will regale their coaches and mentors, parents and fans with fascinating and exciting matches.”
