“Since its launch in 1969, your legendary tournament has acquired good traditions of its own, introducing several generations of capable and talented children to this intellectual sport. Today, it develops successfully and makes its significant contribution to popularising the game of chess. It also serves as a space for self-fulfilment, honest rivalry, and friendly contacts.
The strongest school teams from many Russian regions have assembled in Sochi. I know that you worked hard and withstood strong competition in the qualifying rounds. Now you are ready for the final trials.
I am confident that the tournament participants will reveal their extraordinary potential to the full, demonstrate in practice their daring creativity, their skill in calculating and developing complex and unconventional compositions, and that they will regale their coaches and mentors, parents and fans with fascinating and exciting matches.”
