On the occasion of World Environment Day, 2023 Gaudiya Mission Baghbazar and WEBFUNA organized an International Seminar on the topic ‘ Environmental Degradation – Mitigating Challenges’ conjointly at Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Museum Auditorium on 5th June 2023, Monday. On that same day, Gaudiya Mission and WEBFUNA inaugurated a library of ‘Peace Studies’ with 200 books at the ‘Gaudiya Mission Grantha Mandira’. Mr. Sitaram Sharma, Chairman of WEBFUNA, Srimad Bhakti Sundar Sanyasi Maharaj, Acharya and President, Gaudiya Mission, Mr. Manfr̥ed Auster, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Rowan Ainsworth, Consul General of Australia graced the chair with their presence.
Manfr̥ed Auster, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany said – “Plastic is the main problem of the modern era. We should cut off the usage of plastic like bottles, bags, and wrappers.” He also included that, “We should maintain a suitable temperature of our air conditions for less the energy consume.”
Ms. Rowan Ainsworth, Consul General of Australia said, – “We and United Nations working on raising the consciousness on environment pollution and its prevention. We use jute bags in Australia, Jute is a very good substitute for Plastics.”
“All creatures and plants are coming from the almighty; we should give love, response, and care to his creation with devotion as instructed by our Masters….” Srimad Bhakti Sundar Sanyasi Maharaj, Acharya and President, Gaudiya Mission said.
Students from several schools and delegates were present at this Seminar. Dr. Debanjan Chakraborty, Director, British Council, Mr. Sourav Daspatnaik, Managing Director, Swach Environment Ltd and Ms. Astrid Wege, Director of Gothe Institute were also present.
WEBFUNA generally works on promoting peace studies to make harmony and love, togetherness between the Nations. For this reason, they found a peace studies library for scholars, students, and curious. They hope this initiative will be fruitful to arise the interest in peace studies in mass.
