AFC teams up with Canal+ Group in Vietnam for the 2025-2028 cycle

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Canal+ Group have announced today a new partnership agreement for the 2025-2028 cycle, which will also encompass the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ (FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Final Round) and the AFC club competitions until the 2028/2029 season.

As part of this agreement, Canal+ Group’s local platform K+ will become the exclusive media rights holder of all AFC competitions in Vietnam.

Established in 2009, K+ is a joint venture between VTV, the leading national public broadcaster, and Canal+ International. K+ will be the exclusive broadcast rights holder for all AFC competitions, including club and national team competitions, such as the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™, and will provide the best possible exposure for the AFC’s competitions in Vietnam. Furthermore, men’s senior national team as well as the AFC Asian Cup™ 2027 final will also be covered on broad reach linear free-to-air television in the country.

By acquiring the rights to the AFC’s competitions, Canal+ Group will be adding to K+’s ongoing coverage of Formula One, UFC, ATP, Australian Open, and LIV Golf, among other properties, as well as their long-standing broadcast of the Premier League since 2010.

Datuk Seri Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said: “Football in Vietnam has seen tremendous development across all levels in recent years, which further underlines the progress of the AFC’s Vision and Mission.

“We are delighted to confirm this agreement with Canal+ Group to enhance the consumption and reach of our world-class competitions in football-loving Vietnam and we are grateful for their faith in the AFC and in the future of the Asian game.”

Manuel Rougeron, Executive Vice-President APAC for Canal+ International, said: “We are delighted and looking forward to bringing to our customers and Vietnamese fans the best of Asian football with unmatched quality standard in the country. This is a new step for K+ in Vietnam and the confirmation of our strong anchorage in this country.”

Patrick Murphy, Board Member and CEO at Football Marketing Asia, added: “We look forward to bringing the best of Asian football to passionate fans across Vietnam through our partnership with the Canal+ Group. We are confident in Canal+’s ability to provide premium content and unrivalled access to Asian football to millions of fans across this very important and ever-growing football market. We would like to thank the Canal+ Group for the great cooperation and support they have shown in getting this deal confirmed.”
