To mark the occasion of World MSME Day, the Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized a Special Session titled “Making MSMEs Future-Ready”, today at MCCI Conference Hall.

Shri Goutam Podder, IEDS, Asstt. Director (Gr-I), MSME–DFO, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India; Shri Raj Kumar Middya, Joint Director (P & S), Department of MSME & Textiles, Govt. of West Bengal & Chief Mentor, MCCI MSME Help Desk; Shri Chiranjit Mandal, Assistant General Manager, SIDBI; Shri Bipul Bag, Chief Manager, NSIC Ltd.; Shri Avik Gupta, Senior Manager – Primary Market Relationships, National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. and Shri Anirudha Barooah, Assistant General Manager, India Exim Bank attended the Session today at MCCI.

Shri Goutam Podder, IEDS, Assistant Director (Gr-I), MSME–DFO, Ministry of MSME, Govt of India in his address said that the ministry of MSME has developed enterprise development services to help MSMEs, who are facing the challenges of participating in MSME Champion Scheme. MSME Champion Scheme provides the platform to prove their excellence for which the Govt. has extended a number of support. 

He further mentioned that MSMEs will be incentivized for MSME innovation, IPR, incubation, and design.”Branding is essential”, he said. Government incentives will comprise up to Rs. 4.5 lakhs for those MSMEs which come under the above-mentioned scheme.

He said Z certification will be required to be a defence vendor and MSMEs will be provided financial support for participating in trade fairs overseas. The promotion committee will look into the affairs of overseas trade fairs. 

Shri Poddar said that India at present has 2Cr. 1Lak, 337 thousand MSMEs under UDYAM registration.  West Bengal which houses the 2nd highest number of MSMEs has 5 lakhs 83 thousand 397 MSMEs under the  UDYAM.  

Shri Namit Bajoria, President, MCCI in his Welcome Address said that at present, the World MSME Day, as designated by the United Nations General Assembly is being observed all over to celebrate the crucial role played by the MSME sector and also to enhance awareness of the tremendous contribution of this sector towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). 

Shri Sanjib Kothari, Treasurer & Chairman, Council on MSMEs, MCCI said, on this World MSME Day, we can take a pledge that MCCI would be happy to contribute meaningfully towards the creation of a vibrant ecosystem, favourable for the growth and sustenance of MSME units.

At the Session, the following 5 MSME Member-units of the Chamber were felicitated for their achievements :

  1. M/s. Hindcon Chemicals Ltd.
  2. M/s. Nivedan Foods & Beverage LLP
  3. M/s. RaunakCoirs Ltd.
  4. M/s. Suvidha Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  5. M/s. PDS Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

The Session ended with a hearty Vote of Thanks proposed by Shri Akhil Sonthalia, Co-Chairman, Council on MSMEs, MCCI.
