TEMPORARY FAILURE OF RECEPTION SIGNALS AT SEALDAH – 3 TRAINS DELAYED

Down suburban reception signals at Sealdah failed from 17:50 hrs. to 18:40 hrs. this evening (6.7.2023). Consequently, trains down suburban lines were stranded in the auto section one behind another by maintaining a safe distance which was gradually received at Sealdah in different platforms under proper signal. The system normalised after rectification of the fault at 18:40 hrs. As a sequel to this, three (03) suburban trains were detained enroute. Down direction movement to Sealdah was, however, maintained via UP main line during this period of failure of signal
A group of people misinterpreeting the bunching of trains in auto-signalling territorry as two trains facing one another in opposite directions.
Kausik Mitra. CPRO, clarified that in automatic signal, when there is a bunching of trains, though it seems the head-on position of opposite direction trains, in fact, one detaining behind another in the same direction. There is no abnormality and no reason to spread panic.
