BETTER PUNCTUALITY OF EASTERN RAILWAY’S SUBURBAN TRAINS

Instead of high congestion in the suburban Railway network of the Kolkata area, Eastern Railway has succeeded in improving the punctuality of suburban services considerably in the first quarter of this year i.e. April – June 2023. This has become possible due to efficient asset maintenance & management of traffic flow following a better algorithm wherein the optimal path was ensured for each & every suburban train so that it can reach the destination at the lowest possible time. Moreover, the gradual elimination of manned level crossing gates by replacing them with limited-height subways or roads over bridges is improving mobility in the suburban section considerably.
Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway has sensitised the branch officers of Howrah & Sealdah Divisions to specially monitor the peak hour traffic in suburban lines for the convenience of daily commuters. With this endeavour, Eastern Railway has succeeded in improving the punctuality performance of suburban trains by 2.28% in the tri-monthly period between April & June 2023.
Eastern Railway’s main priority is to transport thousands of commuters from the suburbs to the city of Kolkata & back for their livelihood in a timely & safe. These commuters are mainly office goers in the organized & unorganized sectors and also students of universities & colleges and small traders.
Matribhoomi Special trains are running in different sections of suburban areas for the comfortable accommodation of lady commuters who prefers the Matribhoomi Special as their regular conveyance which not only makes their journey comfortable but also saves their valuable family time.
To maintain this punctuality, Section Controllers & Chief Controllers of the Howrah & Sealdah Divisions maintain strict vigil on the path & inject suburban locals without any bunching only with the motto to carry passengers at the right time.
