Tax Clinic by EIRC of ICAI
Kolkata, 15 July 2023:
The Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) successfully organized a Tax Clinic on July 13th and 14th, 2023, at the ICAI Bhawan, Russell Street, Kolkata. The event aimed to provide assistance, guidance, and knowledge regarding tax-related matters to the public, including students, taxpayers, and individuals from marginalized communities. The Tax Clinic was inaugurated by Shri Lal Chand, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (PCIT), accompanied by his group of senior officers from the Income Tax department. The Principal CIT and his team expressed their appreciation for the unique initiative undertaken by ICAI, recognizing its potential to assist the government in various tax-related matters.
The Tax Clinic was efficiently organized by the Chairman of EIRC, CA. Debayan Patra, along with his team of regional council members. Their enthusiastic efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event. The organizing team worked closely with the Direct Taxes Committee (DTC) of ICAI to ensure the success of the Tax Clinic.
The Tax Clinic organized at all wings of ICAI spread over 168 Branches and all 5 Regional Councils garnered widespread appreciation from various stakeholders. The Income Tax authorities expressed their commendation for the unique initiative taken by ICAI to educate and assist the public in tax-related matters.
The Tax Clinic was a resounding success. It provided a platform for individuals from various walks of life to seek guidance and gain knowledge regarding tax-related matters. The active participation of eminent experts, along with the enthusiastic support of the organizing team, ensured that the event fulfilled its objectives.
