GENERAL MANAGER/ EASTERN RAILWAY ADDRESSED A ZONAL SAFETY SEMINAR
Kolkata, July 27, 2023 :
Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager/ Eastern Railway attended a Zonal Safety Seminar organized by Eastern Railwaymen’s Union (ERMU) at Dr. B.C. Roy Auditorium/ Sealdah on 27.07.2023. Shri Ashok Maheshwari, Additional General Manager, Smt. Zarina Firdausi, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Shri Prabhas Dansana, Principal Chief Operations Manager/ Eastern Railway, and Shri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager/ Sealdah also graced the occasion.
This safety seminar organised by ERMU has identified the issues lying with the Railways for which safety is being jeopardised and accidents are taking place and to find out measures to make the system accident-free as desired by both the employees and the passengers. During the last 6 decades, there have been noticeable changes in the working of Railways due to modernisation of rolling stock, the sophistication of signalling system, track increase in trailing loads, and the introduction of high-speed trains. Railway officials are conducting intensive and extensive inspections of safety aspects with friendly interactions with all safety category staff to boost the moral of the frontline safety staff. Power blocks are granted as a top priority with no compromise safety issues.
Keeping in view the employees’ participation in management, Eastern Railway authorities joined hands for whole-hearted support to the employees’ representatives to discuss safety issues and skill development through this seminar. Such kind of seminar will not only enhance the awareness level of employees but at the same time, will be congenial for spreading of two-way communication between management and the employees. In addition to the above officials, Shri Amit Kumar Ghosh, General Secretary of, the Eastern Railwaymen’s Union also participated in this safety seminar.
