
PM MODI VIRTUALLY LAID THE FOUNDATION STONE FOR 7 RAILWAY STATIONS ACROSS SEALDAH DIVISION THROUGH VIDEO CONFERENCE UNDER THE AMRIT BHARAT SCHEME AT SEALDAH STATION

Ahead of Independence Day, with the vision towards ‘Naya Bharat’, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 stations in 27 states on Sunday 6th August. Thirty-seven Railway stations in West Bengal will be redeveloped as part of the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’. Seven (07) Railway Stations of the Sealdah Division under Eastern Railway are being redeveloped with state-of-the-art facilities. Showcasing the grandeur of Indian Diversity, these redeveloped stations will be equipped with new state-of-the-art passenger amenities as well as replacement & upgradation of the existing facilities.
On this occasion, a grand inaugural ceremony was arranged at Sealdah station. Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose was welcomed with a bouquet and uttariyo by Sri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway on arrival at the venue. Jhulan Goswami, Cricketer & Padma Awardee, West Bengal, Smt. Bombayla Devi Laishram, Archer & Padma Awardee, Pritikana Goswami, Artist & Padma Awardee, Rama Rani Devi, Freedom Fighter, Priti Rekha Bose, Freedom Fighter other noted dignitaries and railway officials graced the auspicious Video Conferencing programme by their gracious presence. On this occasion, colourful cultural programs full of folk dances and songs were presented by the cultural team of the Divisional Cultural Association of Sealdah Division, and the winning Essay of the previously held essay competition was also recited by the awardee.
Hon’ble Governor addressed the gathering at Sealdah Station and is very happy to notice huge enthusiasm among common men.
With this arrived the Amrit Kal and Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the greatest ever redevelopment scheme this country has ever seen across the length and breadth of the country via video conferencing. Passengers, and daily commuters present were very optimistic and happy with this integrated approach of the Railways driven by the holistic vision of overall development of the areas centered around the Railway station.
