HUGE RUSH AT TARAKESWAR DURING SHRAVANI MELA

The Shravani Mela at Tarakeswar is an integrated part of Bengal’s cultural and religious calendar attracting numerous devotees who come to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva and immerse themselves in the spirit of devotion and unity. The Mela takes place during the auspicious month of Shravan (July – August) for ‘Jalabhishek’ of Lord Shiva. Devotees from various parts of Bengal rush to Tarakeswar for ‘Jalabhishek’ of Lord Shiva. During the Shravani Mela, the town of Tarakeswar witnesses a significant influx of devotees from different corners of Bengal who come to participate in the festivities and religious rituals. The local Railway stations experience a surge in ticket sales as people make travel arrangements to reach the town. Eastern Railway makes special arrangements and additional train services to accommodate the higher passenger load during this holy period.
Tarakeswar Railway station which is the gateway to the famous Shiva Temple, recorded mammoth ticket earnings this year which is evident from the booking counter earning figure as follows:–
• 24th July, 2023 – Rs. 10,30,930/-
• 30th July, 2023 – Rs. 6,13,140/-
• 31st July, 2023 – Rs. 15,40,145/-
• 06th August, 2023 – Rs. 7,11,750/-
The ticket sales figure highlights the popularity of importance of the railway station as a crucial transportation hub during festivals in the Tarakeswar region.
