METRO RAILWAY OBSERVED ‘PARTITION HORRORS REMEMBRANCE DAY’
AN EXHIBITION ORGANISED AT NETAJI BHAVAN METRO STATION

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day has been observed by Metro Railway today on 14th August 2023, to remember and showcase the sufferings of the people affected by the Partition of India at the time of Independence. Several families were displaced and many lost their lives in the partition. This exhibition aimed to remind Indians of the need to remove social divisions, and disharmony and further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony, and human empowerment.
The partition had left 10 to 20 million people displaced and left 2 million dead. On 14 August 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the 14th of August is to be remembered every year as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day to remind the nation of the sufferings and sacrifices of Indians during the partition in 1947.
Metro Railway, Kolkata observed this Partition Horrors Remembrance Day today 14.08.2023 by arranging an exhibition at Netaji Bhavan Metro Station. Shri Rabi Prosad Mookerjee, grandson of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, an Indian politician, barrister, and academician inaugurated this exhibition. Shri V.K.Srivastava, Additional General Manager and Principal Chief Engineer, Shri Soumitra Biswas, Principal Chief Operations Manager, and other officers were present in this programme. This exhibition continued till 3.00 pm.
