Sister Nivedita University inaugurates IPR Cell in association with the West Bengal State Council of Science and Technology & Biotechnology

The primary objective of the workshop was to encourage and raise awareness amongst students about Patent and IPR rules and regulations. The inauguration of the IPR cell at Udyog, Sister Nivedita University, aims to assist students and faculties in pursuing their innovations and provide support for incubation.

Udyog, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, IPR, Innovation & Incubation, Sister Nivedita University organized a workshop on 17th August 2023 in association with the Patent Information Centre, West Bengal State Council of Science and Technology & Biotechnology. Dr. Mahuya Hom Choudhury, Nodal Officer, Smt. Paramita Saha, Scientist B, Patent Information Centre, West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology and Biotechnology, and Shri Sitanath Mukhopadhyay,  Assistant Director of MSME DFO, Government of India. Dr. Mahuya Hom Choudhury inaugurated the IPR Cell and Incubation – a Student innovative projects exhibition in the presence of Prof (Dr) Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, and Smt Ina Bose, Director-Industry Relations of SNU.

The primary objective of the session was to create awareness among the students and faculty about Patent and IPR rules and regulations. Additionally, the session’s goal was to emphasize the value of an IPR cell for students and faculties and demonstrate how it empowers them to protect and make use of their intellectual property. Students are better equipped for opportunities in the contemporary knowledge-driven industry because of this empowerment.

The establishment of the IPR cell at Sister Nivedita University seeks to help students and faculty members develop their original ideas and cultivate specific innovations. The IPR cell serves as a guide, instructing the students and faculty members on how to protect their ideas and intellectual property while also facilitating the process of turning those ideas into patents.

The program was followed by an exhibition of innovative ideas by the students and faculties of Sister Nivedita University. Dr. Mahuya Hom Choudhury congratulated the students for their commendable innovative ideas.
