EASTERN RAILWAY AHEAD IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROB & RUB TO MITIGATE TRAFFIC CONGESTION

Eastern Railway, in a mission mode, has already eliminated all Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs) to ensure more safety for train operation. For further development of transport infrastructure as well as the seamless movement of both road and rail traffic, Indian Railways now prioritizing the construction of ROB (Road Over-Bridges) & RUB (Road Under-Bridges) to eliminate also the manned level crossing gates. Marching ahead in this direction a total of 145 Nos. ROB & RUB have been constructed all over Indian Railways in FY 2022-23 and 163 Nos. so far in the current financial year 2023-24.
Eastern Railway has already completed construction of a total of 199 Nos of ROB & RUB during 2014-23. In the present financial year 2023-24 keeping it same pace of progress as earlier has successfully constructed 11 Nos. of ROB & RUB to date.
Replacement of manned level crossing with RoB and RuB has the potential to save crores of Rupees in addition to facilitating local people to cross the Railway line with ease and without detention at the level crossings economizing both time and fuel consumption vis-a-vis enhanced safety of train operations through the elimination of level crossing.
This initiative will overall improve the efficiency of the Railway operations and ensure the safety of the public travelling by road and Railway.
