IIT Bhubaneswar organizes plantation drive as part of

Meri Maati Mera Desh and Mission LiFE Campaigns

Bhubaneswar, 2nd September 2023:

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, in continuation with the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program and Misson LiFE campaign, has organized a mass plantation drive on its premises on 2nd September. Around 200 members of the Institute participated in the drive with enthusiasm and vigour and planted as many as 320 saplings at 11 locations of the IIT Bhubaneswar campus.

Smt. Shruti Karmalkar and Shri Bamadev Acharya, Registrar, IIT Bhubaneswar initiated and led the plantation drive. Members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Extra Academic Activity (EAA), along with the employees of the Institute participated in this program.

Speaking on this occasion, Shri Bamadev Acharya said that IIT Bhubaneswar is proud to be a partner in the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ and Mission LiFE campaigns. He also mentioned that as part of the initiative, conducting a plantation drive like this will inspire students and employees to be sensitized towards taking care of the environment and promoting pride for our Motherland India.

Among others, Dr. Srikanta Patra, Professor-in-Charge-Horticulture (Academic Area), Dr. Tarakanta Nayak, Professor-in-Charge-Horticulture (Residential Area), Dr. Sivaiah Bathula, Coordinator-NSS, Dr. Srinivasa Ramanujam Kannan, Coordinator-EAA and Mr. K.V. Reddy, Horticulturist coordinated and participated in the event.
