EASTERN RAILWAY BEARING THE ENTIRE COST OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF SEVEN ROADS OVER BRIDGES IN WEST BENGAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSPORTING INFRASTRUCTURE

Kolkata, September 2, 2023:

Eastern Railway constructing roads over bridges & roads under bridges at different places in replacement of existing level crossing gates for seamless movement of both train & road traffic and development of transport infrastructure. It has been noticed due to level crossing gates at various stations, approach roads stuck-up, or for clearance of rush of road traffic, rail movement compels to stop. Marching ahead in the direction of removing transport bottlenecks, Eastern Railways has proposed for construction of seven Road Over Bridges (ROBs) at different places in West Bengal viz. 1) Memari, 2) Jaugram-Masagram, 3) Simlaghar, 4) Rasulpur, 5) Ambika Kalna-Dhatrigram, 6) Bahirkhand-Tarakeswar & 7) Barddhaman-Kalna. A proposal was also been placed to the State Government for cost-sharing towards the construction of these seven (7) Road Over Bridges as per norms. As there is no positive communication, from State Govt, Railways will bear the entire cost of construction of these ROBs & land acquisition for this purpose.

In this situation, considering the priority for the development of transport infrastructure in the State by eliminating level crossing gates for enhancing sectional speed as well as for easier movement of road vehicles, Railways has decided to bear the entire cost of construction of these seven Roads Over Bridges in West Bengal. It will certainly bring considerable improvement in the State’s transport infrastructure as well as facilitate socio-economic development with better connectivity.
