Bridge rehabilitation is an important activity for Railways towards the smooth operation of trains to the fullest section capacity. Eastern Railway network is ever busy as this Railway runs 1319 trains per day on average. Smooth running of these trains requires regular asset maintenance work including rehabilitation and repairing of bridges on different routes.
This year Eastern Railway has already completed the rehabilitation of three major bridges as follows :
- Regirdering work of Major Bridge No. 164 on the Bhagalpur – Kiul section of Malda Division.
- RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) Jacketing work of Important Bridge No. 167 in the Katwa – Ahmedpur section of Howrah Division.
- Replacement of cross girder and rail bearers of Major Bridge No. 16A in the Sealdah – Naihati section of the Sealdah Division.
