SIKKIM FLASH FLOOD: SEARCH OPERATION FOR 23 MISSING INDIAN ARMY PERSONNEL CONTINUES, ONE SOLDIER RESCUED
The search and rescue operation by the Indian Army for the 23 missing soldiers continues. One soldier has been rescued so far. His condition is stable and is under medical care.
Troops of the Trishakti Corps Indian Army launched a massive search and rescue operation to trace the 23 missing soldiers. The search operations are being undertaken under conditions of incessant rains, and fast-flowing water in the Teesta River with the roads and bridges washed away in many places. By the evening of 4 Oct 23, one soldier had been rescued and the search operations for balance 22 personnel continued.
The family members of the missing persons have been contacted and informed about the situation. All other Indian Army personnel posted in Sikkim and North Bengal are safe and they are unable to contact their family members due to disruptions of mobile communication.
