DENGUE PREVENTION INITIATIVE LED BY DRM HOWRAH, CMS HOWRAH, HOWRAH MUNICIPALITY COMMISSIONERS, AND SENIOR OFFICIALS

A dedicated team, comprising of Shri Sanjeev Kumar Divisional Railway Manager Howrah, Dr. Debasish Guha Chief Medical Superintendent, Howrah, Shri Prem Prakash Sr. DnHM Howrah, and Shri Dhawal Jain, Howrah Municipal Commissioner, with their dedicated team of Officers, Health Inspectors and staff, joined forces in a unified effort to combat the menace of dengue in Howrah railway station and adjoining areas.
The collaborative approach began with a meticulous identification of areas of concern, focusing on specific locations at higher risk of Dengue transmission. This detailed assessment laid the foundation for targeted intervention.
The team has devised a comprehensive strategy for eradicating potential breeding sites for Aedes mosquitoes, which can carry the Dengue virus. This plan involves the systematic clearance of accumulated garbage and debris, as well as the proper disposal of small containers that are known to harbor mosquito larvae.
Additionally, CMS Howrah led a proactive campaign covering the entire Howrah Division, including Railway Hospital, Health Units, Railway Stations, Railway Offices, and Railway colonies. This extensive outreach program aimed to raise awareness about Dengue prevention measures, emphasizing the critical importance of eliminating stagnant water sources, which serve as breeding sites for mosquitoes carrying the Dengue virus.
The combined efforts of Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Debasish Guha, Shri Prem Prakash, and Shri Dhawal Jain, Howrah Municipal Commissioner reflect a shared commitment to the welfare of the people working and residing in Howrah Division. By directly addressing the root causes of Dengue transmission, including anti-adult and anti-larvae spraying, cleaning of drains, removal of garbage, educating Railway passengers and workers to avoid and remove the stagnant collection of water in condemned areas, construction sites, subways, etc,- they have taken a significant stride towards creating a healthier, safer environment for railway passengers and railway colony residents.
