INITIATIVES OF SEALDAH DIVISION UNDER THE AEGIS OF STAFF BENEFIT FUND FOR THE EMPLOYEES

Kolkata, December 13, 2023

Sealdah Division has undertaken commendable initiatives to bolster the well-being of its workforce and their families through the Staff Benefit Fund (SBF). The augmented SBF contributions encompass a diverse array of programs aimed at providing holistic support, ranging from educational assistance to women empowerment, relief in distress, and various occupational schemes.

Educational Assistance for Technical and Professional Courses: The SBF is dedicated to fostering the professional development of the children of railway employees. Financial aid is extended to those pursuing higher education in technical and professional fields, such as MBBS, Nursing, and Engineering, thus facilitating the realization of their career aspirations.

Women Empowerment Initiatives: Recognizing the pivotal role of women in the workforce, the SBF has introduced tailored initiatives to empower female employees and their daughters. This includes the distribution of digital tablets to daughters of lower-grade pay employees, facilitating access to digital education. Additionally, female employees receive computer training to enhance their digital literacy, empowering them for effective participation in the modern workplace.

Relief in Distress and Funeral Assistance: In times of distress, the SBF stands ready to provide financial assistance to employees facing natural calamities, medical emergencies, or sudden loss of income. Furthermore, the fund extends support to families who have lost a loved one, covering funeral expenses to offer a semblance of financial stability during their time of grief.

Monthly Family Assistance: A novel initiative under the SBF, monthly family assistance is provided to employees who have depleted their leave due to extended illness. This endeavour aims to alleviate the financial strain faced by employees and their families during challenging times.

Procurement of AYUSH Medicines: The SBF facilitates the procurement and distribution of AYUSH medicines, encompassing Ayurveda, Yoga and naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, to railway employees and their families. This initiative promotes traditional Indian healthcare practices, offering alternative treatment options.

Occupational Schemes for Differently-Abled Employees: Tailored occupational schemes are implemented to cater to the unique needs of differently-abled employees. These schemes encompass vocational training, skill development programs, and the provision of assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.

Fresh Air Camps: In a bid to promote work-life balance and rejuvenation, the SBF organizes fresh air camps for the senior employees Sealdah Division. These camps provide a serene escape from city life, offering an opportunity to relax and reconnect with nature in a refreshing environment.

Committed to the well-being of its employees and their families, Sealdah Division’s expanded SBF initiatives stand as a testament to its dedication to ensuring comprehensive support and welfare. These initiatives are poised to empower and enrich the lives of Divisional employees by Md Tarique, Sr.DPO/Sealdah under the guidance of Sri Deepak Nigam, DRM/Sealdah.
