BANGLADESH RAILWAY AND INDIAN RAILWAYS STRENGTHEN COOPERATION WITH BG WAGON BALANCE RECONCILIATION AND ALLOWANCE MEETING

In a significant step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation, Bangladesh Railway and Indian Railways held a crucial meeting today at the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) meeting room in Sealdah. The primary focus of the discussion was on reconciling the balance of Broad Gauge (BG) wagons and calculating junction and transit allowances.
The meeting was led by Sri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager/Sealdah along with concerned branch officers of Sealdah Division and high-level officials from Bangladesh Railways, highlighting the commitment of both railways to streamline cross-border freight movement and optimize wagon utilization. During the discussions, the two sides engaged in detailed deliberations on outstanding issues related to wagon balances and the complexities of calculating junction and transit allowances.
The following points were discussed in the meeting:
• Reconciliation of BG Wagon Balance both parties agreed on a clear mechanism to reconcile the outstanding balance of BG wagons, ensuring transparency and accountability in cross-border wagon movement.
• Streamlined Allowance Calculations a standardized approach for calculating junction and transit allowances was established, aiming to simplify the process and expedite invoicing between the two railways.
• The meeting Enhanced Communication and Collaboration and emphasized the importance of regular communication and information sharing to address future challenges and improve operational efficiency.
Sri Deepak Nigam Divisional Railway Manager/Sealdah said that he committed to work closely with Bangladesh Railway to address operational bottlenecks and create a seamless logistics corridor between our two nations. This meeting has laid a strong foundation for further collaboration.
