GENERAL MANAGER INSPECTS NOAPARA TO DUM DUM CANTONMENT STRETCH OF YELLOW LINE

Kolkata, Date: 08.01.2024

Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway inspected the stretch between Noapara to Dum Dum Cantonment of Yellow Line today i.e. on 08.01.2024.  Shri Reddy made an extensive inspection of this stretch with senior officials of Metro Railway. He started this inspection from Noapara this morning in a trolley.  During this trolley inspection, Shri Reddy checked the via-duct, tracks, ramps, etc. on his way to Dum Dum Cantonment station.

Metro Railway authorities have planned to start commercial services between Noapara to Dum Dum Cantonment station of Noapara- Bimanbandar stretch by March, 2024.

There are a few encroachments on Jessore Road at present which have been hindering the progress of construction work beyond Dum Dum Cantonment en- route to Bimanbandar.  Metro authorities are in constant touch with the State Government to remove these encroachments on Jessore Road. The State Government has assured to clear these encroachments on Jessore Road by the end of January, 2024.  If as per the commitment, these encroachments are cleared then the remaining work could be started, and work up to Bimanbandar could be completed by December, 2024.  The General Manager has instructed senior Metro officials to keep in touch with the State authorities to remove these encroachments as per the deadline.

Later after completing this inspection, the General Manager came back to Noapara station and inaugurated a Crew Lobby at the TSS (Traction Sub Station) Building there. He also held a high-level meeting with the senior Metro officials at Noapara today.

He expressed his satisfaction seeing the overall progress of work of this stretch up to Bimanbandar station.
