One of the most popular artists of Indian classical music, Ustad Rashid Khan has passed away.

The President and Vice President of India were deeply shocked by the news of the untimely demise of Indian Classical Singer Ustad Rashid Khan.

CM of West Bengal also send her condolences to the family and fans of Ustad Rashid Khan.

He was 56 years at the time of his death. He was admitted to the hospital on November 22, 2023. The artist has been suffering from prostate cancer for the past few years. He was responding to treatment.

Recently, he had a brain hemorrhage (stroke). From there the situation started to deteriorate. The artist was admitted to a hospital in South Kolkata. He died there at 3:45 pm on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.

Ustad Rashid Khan was born on July 1, 1968 in Badayun, Uttar Pradesh. He is an artist of the Rampur-Saswan genre. Inayat Hussain Khan-Saheb was the founder of this Gharana. Rashid took training from Ustad Nisar Hossain Khan, another teacher of this genre. who was Rashid’s grandfather. Rashid also trained from Gwalior Gharana Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Rashid’s uncle. Primarily singing classical music, the artist has sung many popular songs in fusion or Bollywood and Tollywood films.

The classical music lovers will miss Ustad Rashid Khan for ages to come.
