RANAGHAT – SEALDAH MATRIBHUMI (LADIES SPECIAL) LOCAL MODIFIED EMU TRAIN WITH FIRST CLASS COACHES FLAGGED OFF FROM RANAGHAT
*Introduction of 1st class EMU coaches in suburban trains of Easter Railway

Eastern Railway introduced a new era of travel comfort for its suburban lady passengers with the launch of Two (2) First Class EMU coaches in Matribhumi Local with a modified rake, starting service on 28th January 2024. The inaugural service of this modified Matribhumi Local with First Class coaches between Ranaghat and Sealdah was flagged off by Sri Jagannath Sarkar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Ranaghat station on 28.1.2024 in the presence of Shri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager/ Sealdah and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Jagannath Sarkar, Hon’ble MP said that under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and with the initiatives of Hon’ble Railway Minister, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Ministry is making all our efforts to develop Railway infrastructure in West Bengal and improve the services & amenities for the comfort of passengers.
This commendable initiative of Eastern Railway marks a significant stride towards enhancing the comfort and convenience of rail travel of the passengers especially for the lady passengers in the region. The introduction of first-class EMU services not only underscores the commitment of the Sealdah Division to passenger satisfaction but also reflects the evolving nature of railway services in response to the growing needs of esteemed travellers. This premium offering is expected to provide a delightful journey for lady commuters, offering a blend of comfort, efficiency, and an enhanced travel experience.
The rake will be a dedicated 12-coach rake with one each marked as 1st class ladies coach after motor coach on either side. Half of the third coaches on either side will be marked for vendors and half for ladies’ passengers with 2nd class ordinary tickets.
In regular service, the Down Train (Train No. 31602 DN Ranaghat-Sealdah) departing Ranaghat at 07.45 hrs will arrive at Sealdah station at 09.28 hrs and the Up train, 31601 UP Sealdah-Ranaghat Matribhumi Special leaving Sealdah at 17.54 hrs will arrive Ranaghat station at 19.40 hrs.
Matribhumi local with Two First class ladies coaches consisting of the following special features:-
• 12 coach Air Suspension type Rake with GPS-based PIS.
• Interior Theme based Painting on both ends of EMU Ladies Coaches
• (First class) Theme: (a) Women empowerment. (b) Indian culture &Sport (c) Science & Technology (d) Culture of Bengal
• Modified seating facility with cushion-fitted seats on both ends
• EMU Ladies Coaches (First Class) for more comfortable journey of Ladies passengers
• Provision of 02 nos Mobile Charging points in each lady’s coach both end EMU with Overload protection.
• Emergency talk back one in each coach.
• CCTV surveillance both end EMU Ladies Coaches (6 nos in each first-class coach).
• Provision of the PVC figure floor mat for both ends EMU Ladies Coach.
The feature-packed, Modified Matribumi EMU Special will initiate a new era of travel comfort.
