REDEVELOPMENT WORK UNDERWAY AT SONARPUR STATION

Sonarpur Railway Station is one of the key junction stations in the Sealdah Division. Situated in a strategic location, Sonarpur Station serves as a crucial transportation hub connecting various destinations and facilitating seamless travel for passengers across the region. One of the notable features of Sonarpur Railway Station is its branch line towards Canning Station, known as the gateway to the Sundarbans. In addition to its role in connecting to the Sundarbans, Sonarpur Railway Station serves as a convenient gateway for pilgrims, students, and visitors to reach the renowned Ramakrishna Mission at Narendrapur. The station’s strategic location and efficient rail services make it easier for devotees and travelers to access this spiritual and educational institution. Keeping in view the importance of this station, Railways have planned for a thorough rejuvenation of Sonarpur Station by redevelopment of the station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Eastern Railway is pleased to announce the rapid progress of the Redevelopment Project currently underway at Sonarpur station as a part of the prestigious Amrit Bharat Scheme with a total investment of Rs. 8.1 crore. The redevelopment project will see Sonarpur station undergo a modern architectural overhaul that perfectly blends contemporary design with its geographical significance.
