METROMAN CLAIMS NINE WICKETS IN AN INNINGS IN THE RANJI TROPHY

Shri Akash Pandey, a Metroman, playing for Railways in the on-going Ranji Trophy tournament has made history by claiming nine wickets in an innings against Goa. This Elite-C Group stage match was played at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat from 9th February to 12th February, 2024.
Akash, a staff of the Fire Department of Metro Railway and hails from Howrah, is a left-arm spinner and previously represented Bengal in U-19 and U-23 tournaments. He achieved this rare feat by just conceding 71 runs in 26.2 overs in Goa’s second innings yesterday and helped his side Railways to post a 63-run win against Goa in the crucial Elite Group Stage match. In the first innings, Akash scalped four wickets in 23 overs by just conceding 62 runs. He also scored 26 runs in the first innings as a batsman. By virtue of this sterling performance, Akash has won the Player of the Match Award also. At present, Railways stands in 4th position in the Elite C Group of this year’s Ranji Trophy by securing 18 points in six matches. In the next match, Railways will play against Tripura in which Akash is determined to perform well.
