Acting on credible intelligence received from a reliable source, officials of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Post/Ranaghat conducted a thorough inspection in the 3rd compartment of Train No. 31746 DN Gede-Ranaghat Local at Ranaghat Railway Station. During the inspection, two individuals, both hailing from Bangladesh, were apprehended by the RPF officials. Upon searching their possessions, RPF recovered three gold biscuits with an estimated value of approximately ₹22,00,000/-, along with suspected narcotic drug items weighing approximately 10.23 grams valued at ₹80,000/- among other items. The arrested persons were unable to produce any supporting documents for the huge amount of gold items.

Moreover, on 22.02.2024, the RPF escort of Train no. 13130 DN Bandhan Express took charge at Zero Point Petrapole for escorting the train from Petrapole to Kolkata. On being asked, the person disclosed his identity as Tapas Monadal, a resident of Bangladesh.
