PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENT CONDUCTED SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT VARIOUS METRO STATIONS
Kolkata, 24th February, 2024 :
Crossing the Yellow Line at Metro stations when there is no train at the platform is a problem which could prove to be fatal specially during peak hours. This may lead to unwanted accidents at Metro stations of Blue Line and Purple Line which may affect Metro services and cause suffering to thousands of passengers.
Officers and staff of the Public Relations Department, Metro Railway have conducted an awareness campaign today i.e. 24.02.2024 at Masterda Surya Sen and Netaji stations to make Metro commuters aware of the danger of this practice. The staff of the Public Relations Department, Traffic Department, and RPF personnel counseled them to refrain from crossing the Yellow Line unnecessarily. Information – Education – Communication (IEC) materials were distributed among the commuters at these three stations and announcements were also made through the Public Address System requesting Metro users not to commit that mistake.
Appreciating this initiative, commuters have promised to cooperate with Metro authorities to make the journey accident-free.
Shri Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Metro Railway has informed, “Such campaigns will be conducted in the coming days at other stations to make Metro commuters aware of this dangerous practice. It helps to educate and convince Metro users of the importance of keeping a safe distance from the Yellow Line on the platform when there is no Metro.”
