“Ram Rajya” is the awakening of spiritual and cultural consciousness, echoing the ideals of Sri Aurobindo- Dr. David Frawley

26th February, New Delhi:

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at fostering a collaborative effort to advance the teachings and vision of the eminent philosopher and spiritual leader, Sri Aurobindo was signed between Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and the Auroville Foundation, Puducherry at  Samvet Auditorium of IGNCA. Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary of IGNCA, and Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, Secretary of the Auroville Foundation, concluded the formalities of the MoU during a seminar held at IGNCA. Shri Rambahadur Rai, President, IGNCA, and Dr. Priyanka Mishra, Director (Admin) were also present on occasion.  A special lecture was delivered by Padma Bhushan Dr. David Frawley. The momentous occasion marked the beginning of a significant partnership that seeks to harness the cultural and spiritual heritage of India for the betterment of society.

At the event, renowned Vedic scholar Dr. David Frawley delivered a keynote address, expressing his profound insights on India’s cultural resurgence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dr. Frawley remarked, “India is in a state of cultural, economic, and spiritual awakening under Narendra Modi.” He further elaborated on the relevance of Sri Aurobindo’s teachings in guiding India towards a brighter future, emphasizing Sri Aurobindo’s role as a rishi of Modern Bharat.

Dr. Frawley in his speech emphasized India’s rich artistic and spiritual heritage, highlighting the importance of nurturing and sharing these traditions globally. He stressed the significance of the collaboration between IGNCA and the Auroville Foundation in promoting this vision, especially at a time when cultural decline is prevalent elsewhere. Dr. Frawley discussed the concept of “Ram Rajya” as not just a political ideology but as an awakening of spiritual and cultural consciousness, echoing the ideals of Sri Aurobindo. He envisioned Auroville as a beacon of this new era, a place where ancient wisdom meets modern aspirations, facilitating education and transformation on a global scale. Dr. Frawley asserted the need for Auroville to embody its educational legacy fully, envisioning it as a centre for Vedic knowledge and transformative teachings. He emphasized the importance of embodying these teachings in daily life, fostering a deeper inspiration toward truth and realization. Dr. Frawley concluded by asserting Sri Aurobindo’s relevance in shaping India’s future, urging a deeper understanding and appreciation of his teachings for the challenges of the 21st century and beyond.

During the program, Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi provided insights into the dreams and goals of the Auroville ashram. In her address, she emphasized that we are all beings alike, not different from each other. Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi further stated that in collaboration with IGNCA, Auroville Ashram will strive to excel in the fields of art, culture, spirituality, and literature in the future. She also highlighted that we are at a point of inflection, transitioning into the city of Auroville. Taking the message of inclusion to the common masses, the MoU will enable us to do so.

Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, echoed the sentiment of Dr. Frawley, emphasizing Sri Aurobindo’s profound impact on global consciousness. He remarked, “Shri Aurobindo gave a global vision to the world, inspiring generations to aspire towards a higher state of collective evolution. Through this collaboration, IGNCA and Auroville Ashram aim to amplify his teachings and propel humanity towards a more harmonious and spiritually awakened future.”

Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi highlighted the historic significance of the occasion, stating, “This collaboration marks a historic milestone in the realm of cultural and spiritual exchange. IGNCA, as one of the largest repositories of art and culture in Southeast Asia, is poised to provide an atmosphere akin to that of Auroville, fostering creativity, spiritual exploration, and holistic development.” Dr. Joshi emphasized the transformative potential of merging the rich cultural heritage preserved by IGNCA with the spiritual ethos propagated by Auroville Ashram. He expressed optimism about the synergy between the two institutions, envisioning a platform that transcends boundaries and fosters unity in diversity. Dr. Priyanka Mishra, Director (Administration) of IGNCA, said that we are committed to working on the education of Sri Aurobindo. Dr. Priyanka added that we are fully prepared to collaborate in this area of work. It is noteworthy that Auroville was founded by Sri Aurobindo’s disciple Mother Meera Alfassa on 28 February 1968 as a project of Sri Aurobindo Society. Today we know her as ‘Shri Maa’.
